Tony on TownHall – I Love Ann Coulter Even When She Is Wrong

Here is my latest article on TownHall.com. Lots of pundits are discussing electability in the 2012 race, and no one has been more clear on the subject than Ann Coulter. She’s right about a lot of things, but, on the 2012 race, she’s simply wrong:

I Love Ann Coulter Even When She Is Wrong

Ann Coulter is wrong about Newt Gingrich. She is wrong about Mitt Romney. She is wrong about President Obama. Since the election race began, Ann Coulter has been wrong about near everything having to do with the GOP race in 2012. Yet, she’s still smarter than near everyone out there. I love Ann Coulter, even when she’s wrong.

Gingrich won the South Carolina primary by 13% over Romney. In vote total, that is 75,874 more votes for Gingrich. In context, Gingrich beat Romney by a vote total only 2000 less than Rep. Ron Paul got overall. On FOX and Friends on Sunday, Coulter responded to the victory by Gingrich in the South Carolina by admonishing the voters:

Apparently, South Carolinians would rather have the emotional satisfaction of a snotty remark toward the president than to beat Obama in the fall…We saw it in the debates when Gingrich would say things that didn’t really make sense. That is what you usually associate with Democrats, which I described in my last book, ‘Demonic,’ how mobs behave.

Coulter commenting negatively on snotty remarks is like Bill Maher commenting negatively on snotty remarks. The bigger, more accurate story is that Gingrich’s remarks were not snotty, they were accurate. South Carolina agreed that it was wrong of CNN’s John King to start a debate with so-called scandal described by Gingrich’s ex-wife Marianne Gingrich. The applause that Gingrich got Thursday night in Charleston is about a disgust for sensationalism over content. In exit polling, women voted overwhelmingly for Gingrich. If that trend follows in Florida, then it can be clearly said that female primary voters don’t care about Gingrich’s bedroom.

Coulter is wrong about the idea of electability. Legal Insurrection made this point about Coulter’s thoughts just last year :( emphasis mine)

In February 2011 she told us at CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) that Romney was a certain loser against Obama, now she tells us he will win. Her excuse was that she was“sick” at CPAC. She also played the birther card on the Tea Party in making the case for Romney. Inexcusable and unforgivable. Coulter’s endorsement of Romney does not a case for Romney make.

The idea of Romney electability of Obama is a myth. It is pushed by Romney supporters with tremendous passion and desire for it to be truth, but it is not. Proof shows just the opposite, as Romney lost in Iowa and South Carolina. The “inevitable” front runner is 1 for 3. Good in baseball, less good in politics. On my radio show, and in interviews across the country, I have stated that Obama can’t win re-election. Any of the men on stage right now will win over Obama.

In South Carolina, both Sen. Rick Santorum and political analyst Dick Morris made sure to stop by the Blogger Bash after their back to back appearances on Hannity Friday night. In front of a gathering of bloggers and radio hosts, Morris made the same point; Obama won’t we re-election. He went so far as to say that Republicans will win 40 states in the general election with any candidate (sans Rep. Ron Paul.)

Coulter might still be feeling scorned by her one true love, Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey, who decided not to run for President. While questions about his conservatism persist, people love Christie’s tone, mannerisms, and attitude. They love that he’s no nonsense, that he takes on all comers. They salivate for those videos where people try to challenge him. They watch them in their entirety…waiting eagerly for the eventual smack down. Then, they cheer wildly, and share the videos on Twitter and Facebook and G+, in emails and at computer work stations. People like honesty, and respond to those who act firmly in the face of usually unanswered leftist assaults.

Coulter followed Christie in backing Romney. Romney, however, has none of these qualities. He has responded to one questioner on the concept of Capitalism with some aplomb. Otherwise, he comes off as quasi-hysterical. When he took on Gov. Rick Perry (in a conversation about hiring illegals) about who had the right to speak at the moment, his voice was not that of a man in control, but rather a scorned child who wanted her oompa-loompa now! When on FOX with Bret Baier, he called the interview absurd. Just take a look at him answering questions about when he will release his tax returns. He mumbles, he bumbles, he takes offense. Only when trounced by Gingrich does he set a firm date for their release.

Trounced, it must be said, by a man who takes on all comers, who is will to take on the media, who isn’t afraid of a heckler. Trounced by a man who has people salivating over his debate performances. They watch them in their entirety…waiting eagerly for the eventual smackdown. Then, they cheer wildly. It’s not that they agree with Gingrich on everything, or agree with every political or personal decision he has ever made. They like someone who fights to win. They like Christie. They like Gingrich. They LOVE Ann Coulter! They would like Romney if he did the same. So far, he doesn’t.

Ann Coulter will continue to dominate big think, and will continue to do us proud when it comes to taking on nonsensical leftist talking points. She will eviscerate those who haven’t done their research. She will do it with a smile, with a historical understand about America, its culture and its values. When she does, we will watch and cheer wildly.

I love this woman. She’s just wrong about the 2012 race.

Tony Is Talking…about Obama and winning

President Obama recently stated, when speaking about the GOP, that “They figured ‘if Obama fails, then we win.’

Never mind that the President is speaking in the third person, I explain the truth in Obama’s statement.

Massa, and Serving the Statists

The Eric Massa story continues.

The story starts last week, when Massa, (D-NY) a freshman Congressman, was implicated in a potential sex scandal.  It came to light that he may have made inappropriate advances towards a male staffer.  A few days later, Massa came out with a statement saying that he would resign on the following Monday.  That yes, he uses extremely foul language in his inner office, and that the blame lies with him about it.

But now, a new story.  However, it’s a same old story.  Massa is a “no” vote on Forced Universal Health Care.  He has been in the past, and he continues to be now. The Obama Administration has already stated, in all sorts of language, that they will do whatever it takes to pass their Statist agenda.  Now, Massa is saying that the administration is behind this story – that the supposed “inappropriate advance” is total nonsense, and that House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) is guilty of leaking the story, and perpetuating the myth.

Massa claims that it is not a string of incidents, but rather an incident.  One.  At a wedding of a Massa staffer on New Years Eve, and (my words) of guys being goofs (as more comes out about this story, the more that “guys being goofs” is just not the case.)  Massa’s wife was not feeling well, and they both left the wedding to go back to the hotel room.  Massa then comes back to the party to sing “Auld Lang Syne.”  He dances with the bride, with a bridesmaid and then joins a table of staffers – all men, and all single (except for Massa.)  One of the staffers turns to Massa, and jokes that Massa should make his move on the bridesmaid.  Massa then, according to his account, “…grabbed the staff member sitting next to me and I said, ‘What I really ought to be doing is frakking you,’ and then tossled the guy’s hair and left, went to my room, because I knew the party was getting to a point where I shouldn’t be there.”

Massa went on a radio station to explain this story:

Stories are now coming out regarding run-ins with Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, including in the gym showers.  Massa is clear in his most recent statements – the Obama Administration has launched this probe, and has made it public (and leaked it!) in order to force him out of Congress because he is voting no on their Statist prize – Forced Universal Health Care.

Where is the truth?  What is the fiction?  What can be believed?  Why is it happening?

Massa, one would think, has a long way to go in proving any legitimacy in this claim.  He already came out last week and announced that he would be resigning. He mentioned some health issues (a recurrence of cancer.)  He already admitted that he owns this reality.  There is a very open and shut case that can be told about Massa.  This latest outburst could be spun as the last gasps of a dying man.  An angry, bitter, defeated and somewhat out of control man.

But the story is too close to the reality we already know about.  The Administration will stop at nothing to pass Healthcare.  Rahm Emanuel is known as a pit bull, with a history of obscenity-laden tirades and a remarkably gruff style (even President Obama has joked about Emanuel’s profanity.)  It seems to be well within the realm of possibilities that Massa has been hung out to dry by the Administration.  That Rep. Hoyer did leak the probe before it was concluded.  That there is a concentrated effort to get rid of him, so that his vote can not stop the House from passing any convoluted version of Forced Universal Healthcare they wish.

The Statist agenda fits this story.  Nothing can get in the way of their desired goals. The ends always justifies the means.  The possible ruiniation of a man’s career is small potatoes, especially when you consider that the administration is willing to destroy Capitalism to provide less effective health insurance to people who are already have the health insurance of their choice (all in the guise of helping others,) and throw others in jail if they don’t buy health insurance.

Massa is now reconsidering his resignation.  If he does stay in the House, one has to wonder if he will reconsider the “D” after his name, as well.

*****NOTE*****
Rep. Massa did resign, as he said he would, which is strange if his stories are true. He then went on Glenn Beck’s show on FOXNews, and proceeded to look foolish. Michelle Malkin has done a great job in exposing the past of Massa as well.

I asked in the post, “Where is the truth? What is the fiction? What can be believed?” So far, the only thing we know for sure is that Massa is one strange fellow.

The Pet Goat – The Sequel

There are Statists who like to attack, vehemently, the decision by former President George W. Bush to continue reading the book “The Pet Goat” to school kids on September 11th, 2001.  The President was notified of the terrorist attack in New York, and, instead of running out of the room, sat for seven full minutes, and finished the book with the group of children assembled at a Sarasota, FL elementary school.

Michael Moore created the laughable “documentary” Farenheit 911, in which he discusses this exact moment in history, and derides President Bush for not making a scene, and running for the nearest exit.  (There are a lot of things you can go after President Bush for – border security, TARP, Iraq strategy – but this is just shallow nonsense, from a nonsense kind of guy.)

Now, it seems that the Obama Administration has it’s own Pet Goat moment.  Current National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) director Michael Leiter, after finding out about the attack on Christmas Day, decided to react with the political saavy of a drunk Gary Hart, and stayed on vacation…skiing.  The NCTC (created after the 911 Commission, and Leiter an appointee of former President Bush) has stated that it does not comment on the director’s schedule, which means no one really knows when Director Leiter returned.  What is clear, was that it was not Christmas Day, and it was not the next day.  We can safely assume that Director Leiter waited at least 48 hours to return home after learning about a terrorist attack on American soil.  48 Hours.  That’s 2880 minutes.  Or, 2873 minutes more than President Bush waited.

If we are going to start timing people on the reactions, then we are going to do it for everyone.  And after we do it, we’re going to honestly recognize the context in which that reaction time occurs.  President Bush was talking to young children, reading them a book.  He waited seven minutes.  Director Letier was on vacation, skiing.  He waited 2880 minutes.  (Also, President Bush was back in his office the same night – beating Director Leiter by 1440 minutes.)

And if all of this isn’t enough to get you to recognize the massive double standard, and the failure of Director Letier in the common sense reaction to a terrorist attack that the Director of the National Counterterrorism Center should have, then simply look at President Obama.  It took him 72 hours to respond to the terrorist attack on Christmas Day.

That’s 4320 minutes.

Socialism? Really?

Van Jones, the disgraced and discredited former Green Jobs Czar under President Obama, decided to ask rhetorically – in response to a question being asked to him about Marxism and the economy – “How’s that Capitalism working for you?”  He asked this question under the delusional belief that Capitalism is somehow the problem regarding the state of the economy.

Yesterday, Breitbart.com reported that Venezuela, under their massively inept leader President Hugo Chavez, will begin rationing electricity this year.  From the article:

The new regulations came into effect January 1, with businesses required to comply with reduced consumption limits and authorities warning of forced power cuts and rate hikes if the measures are not followed.

So, let me ask the question now.  How’s that Socialism working for you?

(You can answer me when the power comes back on in your neighborhood.  I’ll wait.)

The Speaker’s Self-Inflicted Nightmare

“It ain’t over til it’s over.” – Yogi Berra

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) would like to think otherwise.  She would like to think that because she has decided to stop talking about it, that it is a dead topic, and no one else should be allowed to talk about it.

Talk about what?  Well, about whether or not she lied in a press conference when she stated that the CIA has misled Congress, and always misleads Congress, and about whether or not she lied in a press conference about when she was briefed regarding Enhanced Interrogation Techniques, and what was in those briefings.

The Speaker is having a really bad nightmare, and is now hoping the rest of us will have a great, big daydream.  When you accuse the CIA of lying to you, you need to be able to prove it.  It is unthinkable, and downright irrational, to believe that you can accuse the CIA of misleading Congress, then not expect to be asked questions about it….lots of questions about it.  Questions like:

“Can you prove that?”
“Do you have proof of that?”
“Does anyone else corroborate this?”
“What were you told?”
“Where do you buy your pants suits?”

The accusation, which the Speaker (in her infinite wisdom, or drug-induced stupor) put forth, without any provocation from those within the Democrat Party, is serious.  Very serious.  Gravely serious.  And it is irrational to think that the Speaker should not have to answer the basic questions.  Cutting off reporters by saying, “I stand behind my comments”, and refusing to speak further about the subject, is akin to a nine year-old girl with chocolate on her hands explaining what happened to the broken cookie jar on the floor by saying, “Uh-uhh.  I don’t know.  The Bush Administration did it!”

The Speaker is in a world of trouble.  And Democrats know it.  She maybe Speaker, but that does not make her impenetrable to the political realities.  This story, which she created, is not going away, and the rest of us aren’t going to have daydreams about pretty flowers, or a shirtless President Obama until we forget that the Speaker is quite possibly initiating a cover-up.  She needs to explain herself, and show viable proof that the CIA misled Congress, as well as viable proof that she was not briefed.  If she can’t provide these basics (basics any normal person would have when accusing the CIA of lying to you), then she must resign.

It ain’t over til it’s over, Speaker Pelosi.  The nightmare you started is still here.
