It’s called Capitalism

The President recently made remarks on the concept of “immigration reform.”  He stood regally, read from his tele-prompt-ers (peppered with awkward pauses due, most likely, to a poor Tele-promp-ter Management Administrator) and spoke about things that almost made sense.  However, he would quickly correct himself by speaking in his more familiar tongue of nonsense.  Simply, it was a speech that was meant to say, “I gave a speech.”  It was, once again, quasi-action designed to give the appearance of action from an administration that is deeply and gravely opposed to the concept of action – on a subject (illegal immigration) that requires definitive action.

I have grown accustomed to the nonsense from this administration.  I have watched them with their deft skills maneuver around big issues, skirt major decision and purposefully fail to achieve solutions. This is the mark of the Statist.  Problems offer opportunities for expanding power (government control) whereas solutions remove the opportunity to expand power (government control).  Many people quote Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel when he said, “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.” What they fail to mention, however, is the second part, which is the most telling, and most damning. Emanuel continues, “…and what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.”

This is why the Administration won’t seal the border, and is virulently opposed to Arizona enforcing the existing Federal law. They call the Arizona law “ill conceived.” Solutions, for this administration, put an end to the opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.  Solving problems stands in bold juxtaposition to the desires of the Obama administration.

In his speech, the President made overtures to the power of immigrants, and to the impact they have had on our country.  However, he failed to understand why immigrants come to the country in the first place. If we are going to discuss the historical context of why immigrants traditionally came to the United States, then we must accept that it is for Freedom and Liberty.  If we are going to then follow up, and understand what allowed these immigrants to grow, thrive and prosper, then we must accept that it is Capitalism.

The growth and success of immigrants is not by accident, nor is the growth and success of people born in the United States.  Growth and success (and numerous other wonderful effects) are born out of opportunity.  Opportunity exists when Natural Laws are understood and adhered to.  Opportunity exists when government gets out of the way…..when people taste the fruits of their labors, when they are enabled to try, fail, learn and the try again.

We are not a prosperous, vibrant nation because we allow immigrants into the country, and I say this as a second generation American.  My grandparents came to America in the 1930′s – on different boats – from Poland.  They met in night school in Brooklyn where they were learning English.  They were promised nothing tangible. They were not promised food, nor housing, nor clothing nor healthcare. They were not promised money, nor government hand-outs.  What they were promised was the promise of America – opportunity.  That they would not be attacked in the streets for being Jewish, (as opposed to the land they recently departed) and that they would not have their property taken from them without due process.  That the concepts of “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness” derive from Natural Laws, and that no man has the right to take them away from another man.  What allowed my grandparents to prosper was Capitalism.  If they worked hard, if they had good ideas, if they were willing to try, they could achieve their American dream.

President Obama singled out Sergey Brin, the co-founder of Google, as if his success existed because we allow immigrants into the country.  This is simply word play from the President – We allow immigrants, immigrants create search engines. Ta-Da!

The United States trusts, believes in, employs and relies on Capitalism to be the basis of a free people. When this system is allowed to work, with minimal government involvement, anyone who participates within it has the opportunity to grow and thrive.  It is a testament to the system that those who are not born in the US can gain great financial and personal success if they work within it.  The success of the United States is based solely and firmly in the concept of equal opportunity, and in enjoying the benefits of one’s hard work (as opposed to those benefits being the property of the state.)

It is dishonest for President Obama to simply say that our nation’s success is based on our allowing immigrants into the United States.  This would lead one to believe that those who are opposed to illegal immigration are opposed to the success of the United States, and that any nation that allows immigrants will have instant success.

To be opposed to illegal immigration is an affirmation that the United States is a nation of laws.  We do not allow ruthless thugs to intimidate us, nor do we allow those who do not follow the rules to gain credibility (and certainly not citizenship!) If any nation that allowed immigrants achieved instant success, then the United Kingdom and France (flush with Muslim immigrants) would be the most successful nations in the history of the world. Yet, as we know, they are not.  The UK is, day by day, falling apart under the weight of its socialist government, and the undermining of its Western values.  France is doing no better.

The President, once again, does not understand the issue in front of him. Capitalism is the foundation of our greatness.  It comes from Natural Laws.  The acceptance of  ”…huddled masses, yearning to breathe free…” makes us a caring nation, but it is not our laws.  It is not the basis of our way of life, and it alone does not, can not and will not make any nation great.  It is Capitalism that provides the framework, the opportunity for greatness and lets all of our lawful citizens prosper – regardless of their place of birth.

There’s Something Happening Here….

There has been a whirlwind of activity within the Democrat party this week.  The party that won with such “force” in 2008.  The party that has the power, controlling the House, the Senate and the White House.  The party that was going to save us from ourselves, the party that was going to bring honesty and integrity back to Washington, D.C., the party that cared.

The party whose members are running away, and starting to show the wear in their armor.

First it was Sen. Bryan Dorgan (D-ND) who decided that he won’t be seeking re-election.  This is big news, as their own internal polling must show them that the GOP has a very serious shot at taking the seat.  Then, it was an even bigger blow.  Perennial president candidate, and Countrywide Mortgage golden child Sen. Chris Dodd (D-CT) has decided that he will not seek re-election.

This, without question, is a problem for Democrats.  Two prominent leaders of the Democrat party are leaving…while they control all the power.  With Dorgan already trailing his not-even-announced challenger, and Peter Schiff being incredibly strong in his now used-to-be race against Dodd, how could the Democrats let this happen?  Was this a plan?  A strategy to change the balance of absolute power in Congress, so Democrats could have something to rail against (Republicans) when they can’t get their measures passed?  (It has taken them months to get this far with Forced Universal Health Care, and they control everything.  And, they still have months to go, and many more members to bribe and threaten!)  Or, is this the case of Democrats recognizing that they had their chance, and the failed miserably.  Why should Dodd run for re-election, when he is only going to get destroyed for his role in Countrywide, and for his horrible work vis-a-vis Wall Street as Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee?  It’s not like the President’s coattails are long enough these days to help him win that re-elect with ease.  The President’s actions, both domestically and on the world stage, have seen to his continued diminished capacity.  Dorgan might be feeling the same way.  Who else in Congress might be feeling that the once-prominent power of President Obama might have been already used up?

Possibly, Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

In being confronted about C-SPAN’s desire to cover the health care debate from beginning to end, Speaker Pelosi (D-CA) was asked about President Obama’s campaign promise to have  public access to the political process.  Her response was, simply put, not kind, nor respectful of a man who would have the power to help with re-election campaigns.

Pelosi, in answering the questions, stated, “There are a number of things he was for on the campaign trail…”

What does this mean?  That Obama lied during his campaign?  He lied to get elected?  He said things, but didn’t mean them?  He has gone back on promises before?  He can’t be trusted?  He’s just an everyday politician?  Speaker Pelosi doesn’t trust him?

Democrats leaving when they have all the power.  Alliances slowly crumbling.  A majority in turmoil.

There’s something happening here.  And what it is, ain’t exactly clear.

**Added** Now, Gov. Ritter (D-CO) has decided not to run for re-election.  One has to ask, what will we see tomorrow?

The Bowing Insanity

When President Obama bowed to the Saudi King, I thought it abhorrent, ignorant and simply dumb.  However, it was nothing compared to the “explanation” that it wasn’t a bow, put forth by Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, and others throughout the administration, and the Obama camp.

When President Obama bowed to the Japanese Emperor, I thought it was just crazy.  I said, out loud, Is there not one person on Obama’s staff who is willing to look him in the eye and say ‘Mr. President, you do not bow to other world leaders.  Stop it!’”

When President Obama bowed to the Chinese President, I lost my mind, and sent out this tweet, which simple stated, “STOP BOWING YOU FOOL!”

Seems that there is a cartoonist named Glenn McCoy who is willing to do what President Obama’s staff is simply too scared, or too dumb, to do.

The Ignorance of NBC

NBC is ignorant.

It is obvious, to anyone willing to pay any type of attention at all, that NBC is nothing more than a mouth-piece for the Obama administration, and, moreover, the Democrat Party.  The resignation of Green Jobs Czar Van Jones, who was brought to the light of day by Glenn Beck, and a host of incredible bloggers and researchers, including Michelle Malkin, shows just how strong the will of the American people is.  Once we learned about who Van Jones was, and is now, once we learned about what he has said in the past, and in the past 8 months, once we saw what kind of people President Obama was placing in high-level positions outside the purview of Senate approval, we – the American people – said no.

The removal of Van Jones was about finding information, and disseminating that information.  Twitter, Facebook, blogs, emails and a dose of Fox News – that’s what it took to get the word out on Van Jones.  The removal of Van Jones shows the new “force-to-be-reckoned-with” in the United States – We The People.  The Obama Administration never prepared for this.  They probably don’t event understand how it’s possible.  They thought that they alone controlled the American people.  Obviously, they don’t quite yet know what Charles Krauthammer explained to all of us in a column just today.  Obama is mortal.  He is not superior….he’s just a man.  Maybe now they understand that the American people will not be controlled.  They will not be servants to the President, no matter what celebrity shows up in a video.

After the stunning resignation of Van Jones, NBC Washington ran this story with the following headline:

“Obama Aide Van Jones Resigns After GOP Attacks”

What are they talking about?  What GOP attacks?  Who do they think they are fooling? It is now obvious, to anyone willing to pay any type of attention at all, that NBC is beyond just a mouth-piece for the administration.  NBC is ignorant.  They are attempting to spin the resignation as the work of GOP, in order to show the Obama administration as under attack, under siege, in need of pity, in need of support against the big, bad enemy that does not control the House, the Senate or the White House. NBC has given up the ghost of any type of journalism, and instead have resigned themselves to be ignorant shills for the administration, and for the Democrat party.

It’s not enough to explain them as just ignorant, (and they are) it is also important to understand that, with this resignation, and subsequent headline, that they are irrelevant.  NBC, with daily cheerleading of Brian Williams, subsequent cheering from Chuck Todd and Andrea Mitchell, and the “flights of fancy” that attempt to pass themselves off as journalists on MSNBC (Schultz, Matthews, Olbermann, Maddow), was no match for the American people.  NBC spends their days and nights defending the White House, defending Obama, defending the Democrat party.  They use their money, influence, and control, to spin every message they can to distort the reality on the ground.  Want proof?  I refer you to the headline posted above.

Van Jones didn’t resign because of GOP attacks.  (And, so we can be clear, it was Van Jones who has the history of attacking the GOP!!)  Van Jones resigned because the American people demanded it.  The American people were made aware of who he is, what he thinks and what he believes.  They did their own research, and they found out even more.  They spoke up, they spoke loud, they shared information, and they got more people to speak up, and be loud.

Van Jones resigned because NBC and MSNBC are no match for the American people. Yet, NBC thinks Van Jones resigned because of GOP attacks.

NBC is ignorant….and irrelevant.

The Story Of The Statist and the Tonsils

The media basis for Forced Universal Health Care (the concept sold to us via MSM) is simple: health care costs too much.  Doctors are robbing you blind.  Insurance companies are robbing you blind.  Big evil corporations don’t care about you.  You have a right to health care.  Government is the answer.  Government is the way to fix healthcare.  All praise President Obama, for his plan is the right plan.

To ensure that we understand how important health care is, I refer you to President Obama’s July 22nd prime time press conference (his fourth in six months), and his incredibly telling (and tall) tale regarding your child’s tonsils.

The President starts by telling a tale about you having a sore throat.  Then, in a matter of a few seconds, he changes it to your child having a sore throat – repeated sore throats…chronic sore throats. Once he has established the story that will most affect your heart strings, he then gets diabolical, as if he was ghost writing for Stephen King. The President – in a clear voice – then suggests that a doctor will look at the re-imbursement chart, and decide that he can make the most money by taking out your child’s tonsils.  The President continues, saying that this surgery could have been avoided if the doctor, maybe, changed your child’s allergy medicine.  Because, in the President’s made up tale of woe, your child has allergies.

Translation: “Doctors are greedy, scumbag bastards who will slice and dice your beautiful child for a few bucks.  But I, the President, the Hope we have all waited for, and the beautiful Government, won’t let that happen to your beautiful child.  An unnecessary surgery could be avoided if your doctor had listened to a big time Constitutional Law lecturer, instead.”

It is important to remember, throughout this exercise that the President put us through last night, that the scenario Obama laid out has a fatal flaw.  It Isn’t Real!  It’s hyperbole, stacked upon nonsense, with nice sprinkle of “what the hell is he talking about!?!?”  Michelle Malkin referred to it as fear-mongering.  How right she is!

But this is nothing new.  This is the entire strategy of the MSM, and the Statists, laid bare by President Obama.  The strategy is to scare, cajole, and embarrass people into accepting the idea of Forced Universal Healthcare.  The strategy, as of last night’s press conference, now involves making up doomsday scenarios regarding your children to get you to buy into this great lie of Forced Universal Healthcare.  The strategy is to get you to buy in.  For if you buy in, you never realize that this has been forced upon you – which is exactly what the Statist wants.

For the Statist, the worst thing you can do is have a mind.  And not just have a mind, but use your mind.  For the Statist, there is nothing but contempt, hatred and irrefutable loathing for the person who recognizes that they can think for themselves, can see the entire field before them and can rationally explain where things are going, what might happen, and how it will, or won’t work for them.

This is why I will not write about Forced Universal Healthcare, without using the word “Forced.”  This is the defining moment in this debate, and its most insidious.  The idea of forcing me to purchase insurance, and fining me if I don’t, is immoral, it’s disgusting and it’s wrong.  The US Government is getting involved in the kindness business.  They are dictating to me, and to all of us, the terms under which we have to take care of our neighbors.  This administration, and this government, believe their job is to tell me how to be a moral person; that I must care for my fellow man, even if I don’t want to, and by force if necessary.

Is this true?  Sen. Cardin (D-MD) says yes.  In a townhall meeting, he stated, “I just think the overriding public interest is to require you and everyone in this country to have health insurance.”

If it was in the overriding public interest, we’d do it already.  The worst thing, for the Statist, is for you to use your mind.  So, they must work constantly to keep you on their task;  That Forced Universal Healthcare is in the public interest, that doctors are only after profits with no interest in helping your child, that you deserve healthcare, that it should be free to you, that those evil rich people will pay for it.  Just vote for us, and we’ll give you everything you want.

When the country was created, the Founding Fathers worked tirelessly to give us liberty.  They were focused on one thing – freedom.  They constructed a constitution that clarified, and quantified our rights.  They recognized the need for government, and the evil that can happen if it goes unchecked.  They gave us three branches of government, and checks and balances.  When Ben Franklin was asked by a woman on the street what kind of government we were going to have, Franklin replied, “A Republic, if you can keep it.”  It is obvious that the focus of the Founders was a government of, by and for the people, that was kept in check at all times.

The average life span at the time was 35 years.  They could have been very worried about the need for healthcare for all the new citizens.  They could have written into the constitution multiple provisions regarding government and healthcare, and how the government was to supply doctors and medicine to it’s people, free of charge and on demand.

But they didn’t.  Our forefathers did not risk life and limb, take on a dictatorial king, and then convince a new, fledgling nation to fight and die for a lower deductable. They fought for freedom.  They knew that Forced Universal Healthcare is not the purpose of government.  Government is there to protect our most inalienable rights – Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

Something the Statist would like you to forget.

The Speaker’s Self-Inflicted Nightmare

“It ain’t over til it’s over.” – Yogi Berra

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) would like to think otherwise.  She would like to think that because she has decided to stop talking about it, that it is a dead topic, and no one else should be allowed to talk about it.

Talk about what?  Well, about whether or not she lied in a press conference when she stated that the CIA has misled Congress, and always misleads Congress, and about whether or not she lied in a press conference about when she was briefed regarding Enhanced Interrogation Techniques, and what was in those briefings.

The Speaker is having a really bad nightmare, and is now hoping the rest of us will have a great, big daydream.  When you accuse the CIA of lying to you, you need to be able to prove it.  It is unthinkable, and downright irrational, to believe that you can accuse the CIA of misleading Congress, then not expect to be asked questions about it….lots of questions about it.  Questions like:

“Can you prove that?”
“Do you have proof of that?”
“Does anyone else corroborate this?”
“What were you told?”
“Where do you buy your pants suits?”

The accusation, which the Speaker (in her infinite wisdom, or drug-induced stupor) put forth, without any provocation from those within the Democrat Party, is serious.  Very serious.  Gravely serious.  And it is irrational to think that the Speaker should not have to answer the basic questions.  Cutting off reporters by saying, “I stand behind my comments”, and refusing to speak further about the subject, is akin to a nine year-old girl with chocolate on her hands explaining what happened to the broken cookie jar on the floor by saying, “Uh-uhh.  I don’t know.  The Bush Administration did it!”

The Speaker is in a world of trouble.  And Democrats know it.  She maybe Speaker, but that does not make her impenetrable to the political realities.  This story, which she created, is not going away, and the rest of us aren’t going to have daydreams about pretty flowers, or a shirtless President Obama until we forget that the Speaker is quite possibly initiating a cover-up.  She needs to explain herself, and show viable proof that the CIA misled Congress, as well as viable proof that she was not briefed.  If she can’t provide these basics (basics any normal person would have when accusing the CIA of lying to you), then she must resign.

It ain’t over til it’s over, Speaker Pelosi.  The nightmare you started is still here.
