Tony Katz Tonight Radio – 5/22/14 – Anti-Gun Is Anti-Protection

The group Moms Demand Action, headed up by Shannon Watts, is thrilled that Chipotle has told its customers not to bring guns into their stores. Moms Demand says they are about common sense gun reforms. But, as Tony explains, with this new development, it’s clear that Moms Demand is not only anti-gun, but anti-protection.

Also, Tony has a great plan for bringing Illinois refugees into Indiana. But first, they must promise not to bring any of their old ways with them. That includes Bears paraphernalia and deep-dish pizza.

Schools Play Make Believe On Guns and Tolerance

In Ohio, a 10-year-old was suspended from school for three days for making a pretend gun with his fingers and pointing them at a friend’s head.

In the land of make believe, pretend guns are bad, however, it’s not the ten-year-olds that are living in a pretend world, it’s the school administrators in Ohio.

The boy said he was just “playing around,” which, for normal people, is a perfectly reasonable assumption. Except of course, if you work at Devonshire Alternative Elementary School. According to AP reports:

…district spokesman Jeff Warner told The Columbus Dispatch that Devonshire Principal Patricia Price has warned students about pretend gun play numerous times this year, and everyone should know the rules by now. He said warnings have been included in three newsletters sent home with kids

Let us all now be shocked that exhaustive efforts to get kids not to be kids and to listen to adults fails after three whole newsletters. Let us be further shocked to learn that ten year olds use their imagination and may not know the implications behind their clearly innocent actions.

You may ask, “But there were warnings! After enough warnings, there has to be a consequence, right?” Well, it depends on who you’re talking about. If it’s President Obama and the current administration, then no. There are only warnings, then more warnings.

Of course there should be consequences for failing to listen to directions. Children (and despots) need to know boundaries, and need to know what happens when they cross those boundaries. That’s not what’s happening here. In this case, the school (like far too many around the nation) is trying to fix a non-existent, politically-correct created problem with a broad brush of self-righteousness and self-indulgence.

If the boy in question had failed to repeatedly listen to his teacher, and had repeatedly been sent to the principal’s office for failure to listen to his teacher, then suspension is fine. But this is just another in the long line of failed “zero-tolerance” policies that are designed not to keep kids safe, but to make administrators and parents feel better.

Post Sandy Hook, schools are more than ever aware of the possibility of violence in their halls. However, this awareness has made them unaware that kids are still kids, and they may do things that kids do. Political correctness has made too many school districts hyper-sensitive to non-issues, like the eight year old who was suspended for chewing his Pop-Tart into the shape of a gun.

A Pop-Tart.

Now, another student is suspended. Not for pretending about guns, but for offending those in the school system who are pretending to be adults.

Actor Joseph C. Phillips: Teacher Threatened My Son, Questioned His Mental State Over Photo Of BB Gun

In California, gun hysteria has reached such fanatical heights that teachers now feel empowered to confiscate student property, disregard their privacy, question their mental state and threaten police action – in front of other students. All have happened to the son of actor and entrepreneur Joseph C. Phillips, at El Camino Real Charter High School in Woodland Hills, CA.

Phillips, best known for his role as Lt. Martin Kendall on The Cosby Show, lives with his wife and three sons in the San Fernando Valley. In addition to being a regular fill-in host for Larry Elder on KABC radio in Los Angeles, he owns Daddy J’s Wingshack, where his 15-year-old son works and earned the money for an Airsoft bb gun. Last week his son brought a digital camera to school to show his friends a picture of the Airsoft.

On my radio show Saturday, Phillips explained that as his son was showing off the single photo, his Social Studies teacher, a Mr. James DeLarme, walked by. As his son described the incident, DeLarme “snatched” the camera out of his hand and asked him about the photo. When his son explained that it was a picture of an Airsoft bb gun, DeLarme declared the police would have to be notified and promptly left the room to confer with another teacher. The two teachers scrolled through all the photos on the camera, finally handing it back to the boy. Then, in front of all the students, DeLarme asked him, “Do you have any animosity towards your classmates?” and “Are you angry at anyone at school?”

Listen to the full interview here.

The school never notified Phillips or his wife. He learned about the incident from his son five days later. Phillips is livid:

…I’m not sure he’s qualified to teach social studies. He certainly isn’t qualified to psychoanalyze my kid. Looking through the photographs…what are they looking for? What are they qualified to determine by any other images on this camera? Tony, it is ridiculous.

It turns out that DeLarme has been public about his opposition to gun ownership. In an interview with the school paper, The King’s Courier, in the aftermath of Sandy Hook, he said “…our country’s position on gun control and violence is what makes such situations probable.”

Phillips spoke of the current anti-gun hysteria:

You see, Tony, and this is the reason I called you… I know there is sensitivity now about children coming into the school, shooting up their classmates. I get that. But at a certain point, people have to stand up and say “Enough with the hysteria! Enough is enough!” We are not going to sacrifice the dignity of our children, our own dignity… What they (the school) did is not keeping anyone safe.

Furious at the way his son had been treated, Phillips wrote a letter to the principal, Mr. David Fehte:

It may come as a shock to Mr. DeLarme, It may even be news to you, but my son is not the only boy in Woodland Hills with a BB gun.  There are quite a few boys attending your school who not only own BB guns, but own real guns as well. (Some of them play air soft with my son!) Their fathers, mothers, and brothers also own guns and shoot regularly.  Owning a gun is NOT a sign of mental illness.  Owning a BB gun is NOT an indication of mental instability! Certainly, showing friends a photograph of a gun is NOT a warning sign that a student is a potential danger to his classmates! I object, in the strongest of terms, to my son being treated as a potential danger and to his being threatened with law enforcement.  I further object to not being notified!  If Mr. DeLarme truly believed my son presented a danger, both my wife and I should have been notified immediately!

Rather than respond himself, Fehte dispatched a vice principal to answer Phillips’ letter. The vice-principal claimed, according to Phillips, that the teacher had done the right thing to, “secure the safety of the 3,000 students and the 250 faculty members at the school.” Secure their safety from what? A photo?

One wonders how many other El Camino Real High School students are being threatened and humiliated by their teachers, and how many parents are likewise uninformed.

Nickelodeon Star, Anti- Gun Freedom Propagandists Attack ‘Manhood’ Of Gun Owners

The war on gun freedom has taken a dark turn, with Progressive elitists personally attacking law abiding Americans for exercising their rights under the Constitution of the United States. Now, according to the Left, if you own a gun, you’re not a “real man.” And, in the same breath, if you own too many guns, it’s because you have a small penis. Women included.

Recently, the photo below began circulating around Facebook. In it, an attractive young woman (Nickelodeon network star Victoria Justice) strikes a quasi-seductive pose. Next to her is text that reads:

Yeah, he’s cute and very funny, but I don’t think we could ever be together. I just can’t get over the fact that he likes guns. It’s creepy and a little scary. Somebody as smart as him shouldn’t need a gun to feel like a real man.

Underneath that, in bold letters, it reads, “Be A Man. Lose The Gun.”

victoria_justice_guns

This is the newest push from the anti- gun freedom mob. Earlier today, an Aspen Times columnist stated that the more guns you have, the smaller your penis is: (emphasis mine)

Let me clarify that statement a little, if I may. Owning a handgun to protect your home and your family is fine. Owning a rifle or shotgun for hunting or target shooting is also fine. But owning lots of guns or pseudo-machine guns means you have a tiny wiener and you’re incredibly self-conscious about it. That’s the plain and simple truth, even if it’s not true.

What about the women? Well, the author, Todd Hartley, has an answer for that as well:

Women who own assault weapons have tiny penises, just like their male counterparts. That would explain why they’re angry enough to buy a weapon whose sole purpose is to kill as many people as possible as quickly as possible.

It’s classic propaganda. It’s Saul Alinsky’s Rule #5 in ‘Rules For Radicals’ – Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. The irony that is lost on the leftists, that Alinsky thinks ridicule is more potent than a gun, is, well, ironic. (And the fact that Hartley thinks women can have tiny penises makes me question the kinds of women he dates.)

The Left is making two arguments that seem opposed to each other. If one owns one gun, they are not a man. But if one owns too many guns (however many that is) it means that they’re trying to compensate for their manhood. Don’t try to understand how those messages came to exist, understand their underlying desire; to insult those who engage their rights. To shame those who know they are their own best line of defense.

The attack on gun freedom is now deeply personal. Owning a gun is a right in the Constitution. Abortion on-demand, free birth control, the right to not be “offended” – none of those are even alluded to. Yet, Progressives push wealth redistributing social programs and declare them rights, while attacking those who engage their rights lawfully and peacefully.

Michelle Malkin often uses the phrase ‘Gird Your Loins’ when talking about the assaults of the Left. She’s right. But it’s not enough to stand strong, one must fight back. The above photo is a lie. George Washington, George Patton, Douglas MacArthur – all men with guns, and Ms. Justice (along with all the young women who watch her show) are better off for it. Abraham Lincoln sent men with guns to fight their brothers (also with guns!) to ensure the continued success of the Union and to end slavery. It took a lot of guns. Is Mr. Hartley calling into question President Lincoln’s manhood?

Truth, logic, reason and facts are on the side of the law abiding gun owner, and those who favor gun freedom. But those things alone will not win this cultural attack. Luckily, the rise of new media and social media allows for a proper counter-attack. Here’s an example:
