		<description>The back pay was indeed excessive punishment for McDonalds in this case, but the infraction didn&#039;t warrant termination. A simple written warning and a brief counseling session, perhaps even a brief suspension would have accomplished the same thing for free. 

The &quot;what if everyone did it&quot; analogy is a nice math exercise for grade school children, but not really very telling in this case. And the thoughtless theft of a piece of cheese with no thought to ones own gain hardly equates to the theft of a diamond. The punishment, after all, should fit the crime. Don&#039;t you think?</description>
